On 28 June 2026, the HEALING BAT project organised a dedicated workshop during the International Symposium on Beyond Lithium-Ion Batteries 2026 (BeLI26), held at ETH Zurich. The workshop, entitled“Innovation and Collaboration in Next-Generation Battery Technologies”, brought together researchers and stakeholders to discuss advances in self-healing batteries, smart sensing technologies, and collaborative initiatives within the European battery research landscape.
The programme featured presentations on the HEALING BAT vision for self-healing batteries, smart cell sensors and instrumentation, recent developments from the SALAMANDER project, and the PHOENIX approach to smart batteries and degradation monitoring. Participants also engaged in a panel discussion exploring the opportunities and lessons learned from collaboration among sister projects within the BATTERY 2030+ initiative.
The workshop concluded with an overview of BATTERY 2030+ strategic pathways towards a sustainable energy future, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and innovation in accelerating the development of next-generation battery technologies.
The event provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and strengthening synergies between European projects working towards safer, smarter, and more sustainable battery systems.
